The Summer Set's Brian Dales Looks Back on 2011

What did you achieve in 2011 that you are most proud of?
I'm most proud of our new record, Everything's Fine. We wrote and recorded a lot of it in January and February earlier this year, and I believe it's the most honest, sincere work we've ever done. It took a lot out of me emotionally and I'm really happy with how it was praised and received.
What was the biggest obstacle 2011 presented?
I put out a new record I love and I got to play music on 3 different continents. In retrospect, this year was perfect. All obstacles seem trivial at this point.
What was your theme song this year?
"We Are Young" by Fun.
What is your New Year's Resolution?
This year I'm not making any resolutions. I'm just trying to be the truest, best version of me that I can. Aren't we all? And I'd really like to see Bruce Springsteen in Paris on July 4th but that's neither here nor there.
What was your favorite album of 2011?
The Civil Wars - Barton Hollow
What are some big things on your to-do list for 2012?
Well, we're hitting some new countries like Australia, Philippines, Brazil, Chile, etc, so I'm really excited about that. Then hopefully it's time to work on album 3.
Fill in the blank: "It's 2012, I can't believe we don't have _____ yet"
"It's 2012, I can't believe we don't have flying cars yet. When do we get to be the Jetsons?"
